Administrative Assistant - National Projects (ADRA Canada)

Sandy has worked for ADRA Canada since 1997. She works closely with churches and centres across Canada that are supported by ADRA Annual Appeal funds. Presently there are 172 projects funded by our office. Sandy is responsible for the monitoring and evaluation of project proposal funds and project activities. She plays a role in training volunteers in the implementation of community service programs and in assisting ACS leaders with suggestions and resources required to make the programs a success. Sandy is a trained Adventist Disaster Response Instructor. If you need ideas for fund-raising events, new community service programs or help completing a proposal give Sandy a call - she will be happy to assist you.

AHS Training is coming to a NANAIMO

This year at Camp Meeting, nearly 500 people experienced a 5 Point Health Screening and ADRA Canada is anxious to train teams in as many Canadian Churches as possible.
Such training will equip our members for a unique community outreach that will...

• connect them in a service oriented way with people in their   community
• help individuals assess their state of health and risk for   lifestyle diseases
• motivate people to make positive changes to save lives &   reduce health care costs
• help our team discover the most prominent program needs   for the community
• make the public aware of community seminars that can   address their needs.

Public Health Screening consists of...
1. FREE Non-invasive medical tests to compare to     established norms in:
    • Blood Pressure
    • Body Mass Index (BMI)
    • Heart Rate Step Test
    • Vital Capacity Air Flow Metering
2. Health Age Evaluation from profile information provided by     the screening applicant
3. Opportunity for the applicant to have an encouraging visit      with a caring volunteer
4. Providing the applicant with a choice of informative      pamphlets on a variety of subjects:
    • Foods that Fight Cancer
    • How to Stop Smoking
    • Normalizing Blood Pressure
    • Diet & Exercise
    • 16 Ways to Reduce Stress
    • How to deal with Depression
5. Surveying the genuine interests of applicants informing     them how they will be contacted to enroll in seminars to be     conducted in the community on future dates.
